A world where communities and nations sustainably manage their forests and natural resources for the benefit of our climate, our environment and humanity - WeForest Vision
Global warming is one of the biggest problems our planet is currently facing. It causes an increase in the levels of carbon dioxide, CFCs, and other pollutants. Scientific evidence proves that trees are the best known technology to cool our planet. That’s why since 2017, PieSync and WeForest joined forces to protect and restore forest landscapes.
WeForest has planted more than 16 million trees in 10 countries since 2009. With their help, PieSync is able to plant a tree in the Khasi Hills of India for every new user.

The trees planted by WeForest will eventually (after 20-30 years) extract an equivalent of 1.1 million tons of CO2 from the atmosphere. This represents the annual carbon footprint of 137 000 Belgians or 70 000 Americans.
Recently, WeForest published the Annual WeForest Report for 2017 to talk about the positive impact that their projects are having on the environment. If you are one of our users, here are some of the things you’ve been helping with:
Reducing Pressure on Forests in India
Planting trees is urgent, but reducing the pressure on forests is critical. In 2017, we have been introducing new livelihood activities such as distributing fruit tree saplings. The project is also expanding to the North Khasi Hills.
Impact on the community
In collaboration with FAO’s Forest and Water Programme, WeForest organised a Forest-Water Capacity Building workshop in India.
Impact on the planet
WeForest restores forest landscapes across the globe. So far, they have worked in 10 countries and on 3 continents. Their approach to forest restoration keeps carbon stored in trees and soil, restores the landscape, improves the water cycle and promotes biodiversity.
WeForest plans to plant 4 million trees for 2018. In India, thanks to PieSync and other companies and indivuduals collaborating, they will plant 1,7 million trees in India.
