Want to hear an exciting story? Meet Erik Fong. This former Apple employee ran for City Council in California in 2013. Not surprised yet? He now has a successful consultancy business built with zero marketing.

The name is Winged Eagles. The Seattle-based management consulting group is focused on the Salesforce.com platform. What they do is helping other businesses to create and develop strategies using Salesforce as their single source of truth. Which implies a competitive advantage in data analytics, AI, productivity, and in general terms the evolution of a business.

When Erik ran for City Council, a former Mayor gave him a tip: “You have to meet at least 5,000 people before the day of the election.” And that was precisely what he did. Fong lost the elections, but he won an amazing network that would help him set the basis for Winged Eagles. So far, all his business prospects came from that network.

From California to Seattle

The first challenge he faced was probably to get used to Seattle’s weather. Not an easy one. After that, he noticed he had valuable contacts isolated in different apps. Most of them spread between iCloud and Google Contacts. Naturally, the Salesforce consultant had to centralize them in Salesforce.

“Two reasons motivated me to search for a solution to sync my contacts. The first one was to organize my contacts and centralize them in Salesforce. The second one was to find the best syncing service to recommend to my clients. For that, I first had to try it myself,” says Erik.

When Erik started searching for a syncing solution, he tried a handful of similar tools. During his research, he detected two common problems: lack of customer support and slow syncing.

“One of the things I love about PieSync is that when I had a problem I used the customer support chat and my problem was solved in less than 5 minutes. It’s also a very fast sync. Head and shoulders above any other tool I tried,” says Erik.

This is how his current connection between Google Contacts, Salesforce, and iCloud looks like:

After a quick configuration, he relies on the fact that everything is working automatically:

“PieSync does everything that I need in the background. I don’t need to log into Salesforce and then be frustrated if I forgot to add something. After the setup there’s no need for any manual labor,” says Erik.

“A trustworthy tool”

Another advantage of Fong’s integration is the possibility to see how his contacts are actually syncing in real time. Thanks to the manual sync button in PieSync’s dashboard, if he can keep track of the contacts he is updating in each app. “With similar tools, you just have to sit down and wait for the sync to happen. With PieSync I can actually see what’s going on between Salesforce and my other apps,” says Erik.

But the best benefit for Erik is trust.

“It takes a long time to find a piece of software that you can trust with your data. PieSync is just that, trustworthy. I recommend PieSync to basically all my clients,” says Erik.
