Here at PieSync, we try to incorporate eco-friendly initiatives into our daily business. Our office manager Jo makes sure we stay on track. Making your business run environmentally friendly doesn’t require a lot of cash, in fact, you might even save some! Below you can find 5 easy-to-implement tips that made us reduce our ecological footprint significantly.

Reuse and recycle

Using reusable bottles, cups and cutlery can reduce your plastic waste significantly. Here at PieSync, each new employee receives a reusable drink bottle. We also have the habit of drinking tap water and use a Sodastream to make our own sparkling water. We try to avoid plastic and promote the use of ceramic cups and plates (which are available in our office kitchen). The cans of soda in our fridge are our guilty pleasure. But we recycle them!

Telecommuting

Many companies allow their employees to work from home from now and then. PieSync is no exception. Although the atmosphere in our office is very pleasant to work in, working from your own home can improve your concentration level (I wrote this blog from my kitchen table) and save time on commute. It is also one of the most eco-friendly business movements today. Even just one day of telecommuting could save 423,000 tons of greenhouse gas, according to the Telework Research Network.

Go paperless

We have one printer in the office and it is rarely in use (yours truly wouldn’t even know how to operate it). As a SaaS company we mainly work with cloud apps that enable the easy sharing of important documents and online collaboration. We save a lot of money on paper and ink cartridges, and it’s good for the environment!

Support a good cause

Since 2017, PieSync has been committed to stop global warming and deforestation in partnership with WeForest. Trees are the best-known technology to cool our planet, that’s why we are planting a tree for every new customer that subscribes to our service.

Use eco-friendly cleaning products

Phosphorus, nitrogen, and ammonia are in the environment largely from cleaning supplies. These three chemicals are not removed by waste treatment processes. By using eco-friendly cleaning products in your office you can not only reduce the amount of toxins in your work environment but you can also help keep our water clean. We use eco-friendly products for hand wash and detergent. You can also ask your cleaning business to do the same.
