Their delivery stats are impressive, even if you need to spend a few hundred dollars – or more – on consulting. Mailchimp restricts phone support for lower-tier price plans, but offers email and live chat support for Essentials plan and above. If you're on a free plan, you can't access 1-1 Mailchimp support after the first 30 days, only the user guides in their knowledge bases.
SendGrid offers 24/7 ticket support for all customers, 24/7 chat support for paying customers, and phone support is available for customers with a Pro or higher account between 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM MST, Monday - Friday.

Pricing and scalability
Out of the two email tools, Mailchimp is the easiest and usually cheapest for small businesses to get started with. It offers four price plans, ranging from Free to Premium (available from $299/month but highly scalable for large contact databases).

With the Email API Plans, you can integrate email into your app or website. You can start with the Free plan with 40,000 emails for your first 30 days, then 100/day forever after that. Most teams sending transactional emails will need at least the SendGrid Essentials 40K plan long-term due to this limit.
With a Marketing Campaigns plan, you can design and send email marketing campaigns and automations. This is the closest analog to Mailchimp's core email marketing product.
With a Free plan, you can store up to 2,000 contacts and send up to 6,000 emails a month.
