Airtable

GETTING STARTED GUIDE: How to set up a new connection?
ALL FEATURES EXPLAINED: All our features/functionality explained in detail - no app-specifics.
Airtable is a productivity tool that enables its users to manage spreadsheets with the power of a database to organize anything. The app gives you access to information when and where you need it, by making it available both on the web and via mobile app. Below you'll find more detailed information, specifically for Airtable integrations:
Supported Airtable Integrations
Authorizing Airtable
Note that PieSync will only be able to sync contact databases like a customer database, lead database, personal contact database,... Other spreadsheet-databases, for example, property inventories, account database, .. are not part of our functionality.
To authorize Airtable, simply follow the steps in the authorization flow. PieSync and Airtable leverage API Keys to connect both systems.
Note that prior to authorizing, PieSync requires your table in Airtable to be structured in a certain way to maintain stable syncing.
- an email field in email format
- a field to capture last modified time
You'll need to point to these two fields during the setup & authentication phase of your Airtable sync.
Email field
Your table needs to have an email field. PieSync will typically sync to what is called a contact in your other app, and it relies on the email to initially match pre-existing contacts.
Make sure this is an actual email field - it cannot be a text field that happens to contains emails.
Last modified timestamp
To enable syncing, your table needs to have a last modified timestamp field. PieSync relies on this information to maintain the sync - it's absolutely crucial this field remains an integral part of your table.
Keep the default settings which are that the field updates with all editable fields and that it has a time component.
It's recommended to give this a recognizable name, and to hide it.
API Key
In order to connector your Airtable account, we need to have your API Key. You can find this by going to your Account Overview.
Choose your contact type
Next, we will need you to fill out your;
- Workspace
- Table
- Primary Email Field
- Last Modified Time Field
[IF] Supported Conditions/Filters
PieSync will automatically fetch all rows from the selected table and workspace. This will be different for each user.
[THEN] Supported Actions
Since we are working in a spreadsheet-database, actions will not have a signicficant impact. Updates and changes to your data in Airtable will happen via the Field Mapping decribed in the next section.
Field Mapping
Field Mapping will allow you to map your columns with fields in your other applications. Rows in Airtable will be concidered a record.
You can custom map your Airtable custom fields and any additional standard fields that aren't included in the default mapping yet. Bear in mind, a mapping between two fields can only exist if the types of fields are compatible. More information on Customizable Field Mapping here.
