GETTING STARTED GUIDE: How to set up a new connection?

WooCommerce is a highly customizable, easy eCommerce platform helping business build their online platform. With 8,287,048 downloads, WooCommerce powers over 39% of all online stores, making it the most popular eCommerce app on the web.

Authorizing WooCommerce

Before connecting WooCommerce, we need you to take care of the following Prerequisites:

  1. Your WordPress instance has Pretty Permalinks enabled. This page shows how this can be configured.
  2. The REST API is enabled. In order to do this, go to the WordPress admin and navigate to WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > Legacy API and tick the Enable REST API checkbox.

For us to connect to your WooCommerce account, we need the following things:

  1. Your app's domain. This can be found in your browser URL. For instance on the below screenshot this is 'woocommercedemo.eu'.

  1. Your Consumer Key and Secret. You can reuse an existing set if you have this or you can create a new set by following the steps on the below screenshot.

Be sure to select 'Read/Write' permissions, otherwise access will be denied!

If you already authorized WooCommerce account(s) in the past or in any other PieSync integration, you'll be able to skip the first part of the authorization and choose from your CONNECTED ACCOUNTS.

Additional requirements.

To create resources in WooCommerce, a password and username are required per user that you create. This can be automatically done by enabling both settings in the account creation tab.

In order to create new customers in WooCommerce, you have to activate:

  1. on creation, automatically generate account username
  2. on creation, automatically generate account password.

These settings can be found under WooCommerce -> Settings -> Accounts & Privacy

Choose your contact type

Distinguish between Guest Customers or Registered Customers before proceeding to the configuration page.

Depending on your selection, a one or two way sync will appear.

  1. Registered Customers (Users)

Please be aware that PieSync solely syncs Customers and will not take into account other Roles.

  1. Guest Customers

PieSync can't create Guest Customers (they made a purchase but didn't register). This results in exposing our sync in one direction.

Default Field Mapping

Depending on the other app you are syncing with, you'll see a number of standard WooCommerce fields being mapped by default. For instance, in a connection with Google Contacts, the default field mapping looks like this:

PieSync syncs the default name field(s) that come with the apps. Sometimes they have a different structure in both apps you connect. E.g. first and last names are separate in app A and joint in a single field in app B. In the background, PieSync joins first and last names together from app A to B and separates them again from app B to A. Our algorithm is smart about which part it updates in app B.

Customizable Field Mapping

For now, we don't support WooCommerce customizable contact fields. Therefore, you can only custom map any additional standard fields that aren't included in the default mapping yet. Bear in mind a mapping between two fields can only exist if the types of fields are compatible, and the particular compatibility will determine the direction of the mapping as well. Syncing Deletions

Currently, there are no WooCommerce integrations on the PieSync platform that support our deletions sync.

Syncing Unsubscribes

Currently, there are no WooCommerce integrations on the PieSync platform that support our unsubscribes sync.

The availability to Sync Unsubscribes/Deletions is app and connection dependent. If the box is not there to tick, it's simply not possible. We need to be able to detect unsubscribes/deletions on one side and at the same time be able to create add the tag 'PieSync Unsubscribes' or ‘PieSync Trash’ on the other side.
